It may have been Melrose, but Manhattan was definitely in the air last night at the Hautelook.com “Sex and the City” party hosted by vintage mecca Decadestwo. From Carrie’s Fendi baguettes to Charlotte’s Louis Vuitton shifts, SATC-inspired wares were on display for women looking for their own “Sex” fix. While Rachel Zoe, in a Pucci print caftan and PVC stilettos, chatted up Decades owner Cameron Silver, Perrey Reeves held court near the re-creation of Carrie’s Upper East Side bedroom. “The funny thing is,” admitted celebrity stylist Cristina Ehrlich, “when I look at things on the rack—I either own it, or I donated it.” For a limited time (today only), Hautelook.com will host an online auction featuring inspired looks from the show. “The great thing about what they’re doing is that they’re really on the cutting edge of what’s right now,” Ehrlich added, eyeing an Oscar de la Renta black and white strapless number.—Alexis Brunswick

“When I started ordering from jewelry display catalogs for my own closet, I realized I had a problem,” joked House of Lavande’s Tracy Smith at a dinner in her honor hosted by Karen Elson and Sarah Sophie Flicker (both of whom were turning heads in their red dresses accessorized with opulent hair jewels) at Bobo last night. The Palm Beach-based Smith’s interest in fine costume jewelry started with a thrift shop find and grew into an obsession—with a retail angle—that’s shared by guests such as Elise Øverland, Allison Sarofim, and Sylvana Soto-Ward, who sparkled with more than their usual brilliance (courtesy of Lavande) last night. If you’d like to indulge, you can shop online or send in pictures of your favorite outfit and get advice at www.houseoflavande.com.—Laird Borrelli-Persson

Though the Brits have long had an affection for the cute, quill-covered animals, most Americans’ exposure to hedgehogs is limited to Sega’s early nineties hero, Sonic. Lately, though, designers seem to be finding inspiration in the spiky creatures, because they’re popping up in some unexpected places. A few that have turned up on our radar:

Le Sportsac is introducing a hedgehog print for Fall that features two rather friendly specimens falling in love on the nylon (top left, available in August, www.lesportsac.com).

Clothier Madewell gets to the point with a well fitting tee emblazoned with a graphic line drawing of an Atelerix albiventris—and the shirt is ultrasoft, even if its inspiration isn’t (bottom right, about $30, in stores this fall, more information at www.madewell1937.com).

And perhaps most fabulously, the dangerous-looking animal gets the luxe treatment from Bulgari, cast as a statement ring in rose gold, complete with ruby eyes and a black diamond nose (top right; more information at www.bulgari.com).

Want to know more about this adorable muse? Check out Hedgehog World for photos and information on the domesticatedAfrican pygmy variety, kept as pets here in the U.S. of A. Disclaimer: After your faithful correspondent perused the photo galleries, it was only a matter of time before I had to have my own (Elvis, bottom left, about $225; similar models available at www.hamorhollow.com).—Kat Thomsen

Yeah, I know you’re sick of hearing how every new eco-friendly designer wants to make something organic but also fashion-forward. Trust me on this one, though—Larsen Gray is cool. And not just for a green designer. The brainchild of “Project Runway” alum Nora Caliguri and her friend Rachelyn Porter, Larsen Gray is focused on simple, modern silhouettes with interesting details. Think high-waisted shorts, baggy silk tanks, and one-shoulder dresses, all 100 percent organic or sustainable. And with the entire line priced under $260, you can feel just as good about your wallet as the environment. For more information, see www.larsengray.com.—Romney Leader

Clockwise from top left: Dori Csengeri work of art, $525, available at www.vivre.com. Dior flower hair band, $2,680, available at Christian Dior, NYC, (212) 931-2950, www.dior.com. Stephen Jones for Marc Jacobs apple headpiece, price upon request at Marc Jacobs, L.A., (323) 653-5100, www.marcjacobs.com. Louis Vuitton pink bow, not for sale.

Hats may not be part of your everyday style, but come Easter Sunday, we can’t help but feel a bit nostalgic about the new spring bonnet thing. If you want to add a little—OK, a lot—of panache to your outfit, consider one of the headpieces above. If the straight-off-the-catwalk styles from Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and Christian Dior are too statement (or, in the case of the runway-only LV number, unavailable), consider something a little more basic, like Dori Csengeri’s floral headband.—Romney Leader

The cliche about Brazilian bikinis is that they’re tiny (hence the abbreviated personal topiary of the same name) and louder than Rio during carnival. But the chicest Brazilian girls aren’t wearing hot-pink micro-suits. Instead, the trend is for larger bottoms and subtle colors, like these downright sedate styles from Jo de Mer (a favorite of Gisele Bündchen, a woman who knows her bikinis), Beach Couture (whose collection for Topshop arrives in stores this week), and Adriana Degreas (known for her luxe aesthetic). Basic, it seems, is the new bling.

Clockwise from top: Jo de Mer, $195, available at Barneys New York, (212) 826-8900, www.jodemer.com. Beach Couture, $114, available at info@beachcouture.com, www.beachcouture.com.br. Adriana Degreas, see www.adrianadegreas.com.br for more information.

Style.com has been nominated for a 2008 Webby Award in the Fashion category. The Webbys have been dubbed “the Oscars of the Internet,” so we’re duly thrilled. Even better, the site is also eligible to win a People’s Voice Award, and this is where you can do your part: Vote for Style.com at http://pv.webbyawards.com/ before May 1; it takes just a few moments to register. By the way, did we mention how great you’ve been looking lately?

After registering, click on the Website voting link, and you’ll find the Fashion category under Entertainment. Remember, every vote counts— we don’t want the superdelegates to get involved. Winners will be announced on May 6 and honored at the 12th Annual Webby Awards in New York City on June 10.

Richard Mortimer, the founder of the now defunct Boombox, perhaps the most written-about club since Studio 54, has this to say on why a MAC-sponsored party celebrating his new online magazine, Ponystep.com, was held in the swank West End club Sketch, rather than the gritty East End: “It’s a more grown-up venue because the Boombox crowd are all growing up together—along with me. Things change. But with this lot, they don’t mind the location—they will come to wherever the party is.” He was right: A slew of Boombox regulars like Henry Holland, Gareth Pugh (who had his makeup done by MAC), and Katie Grand schlepped down to the land of bankers and pinstripes to raise a glass to the launch of the e-zine. “I like it here better,” said Boombox follower Cathal O’Brien, turning heads (a feat with this crowd) in a proportion-defying huge black cape by Pugh, which resembled a bat cave. “The loos are soooo much better.” Also spotted were Roland Mouret and former Biba designer Bella Freud, who contributed to the inaugural issue of Ponystep.com, which Mortimer describes as a bit like the London version of Hintmag.com. “It’s a labor of love. Incredible people who are at the top of their game are working for us for free at the moment, until it really gets off the ground. But all the most interesting and important issues on art, music, fashion, and the like will be there. For anybody who cares about that stuff, it’s the first Web site they should log on to in their day. It will be as cool as Boombox, but a lot more serious. It’s that whole growing-up thing again.”—Afsun Qureshi

Obama. Clinton. The really old guy. Yawn. We’re so very tired of the elections already. (Is it really not November yet?) Still, an e-mail in our inbox caught our eye: Voting for Undies. It seems that if lingerie e-tailer HerRoom.com can get 100,000 people to vote for their fave unmentionables, they’ll donate $25,000 to the National Cervical Cancer Public Education Campaign—that would be 25 cents a voter. Before you get your, ahem, panties in a twist…yes, the Web site’s second annual Undies Award is a marketing tool. But if you’re anything like us, you’ll appreciate the irony of buying a sports bra without having to get up from your chair. And hey, it’s for charity. Hurry, though! You have one day left to vote at theundies.com before the “awards ceremony” is posted on HerRoom.com.
