En Attendant Isabel, Hairy Like The Wolf, And More…
The English are coming, the English are coming! Oh—no, wait, …

Not that we’re in the habit of punting about Hollywood releases, but today’s debut of “21″ raises a few intriguing questions. Given that the film stars fashion muse-of-the-moment Kate Bosworth (see Vogue’s February 2008 cover), should we expect ateliers across town to be closing up shop early, the better to let Bosworth-favored designers like the Proenza boys take in a screening? Further: Given the Bosworth connection, and given that she plays a card-counting MIT applied mathematics major, should we be expecting a sexy brainiac theme at the September shows? Or perhaps—inasmuch as the movie is set in Vegas, with the principal action at the blackjack tables—we should clear our calendars for some casino-flavored benefits, and punch up our own card-counting skills? But consider this: “21″ also stars Jim Sturgess, English heartthrob of “Across the Universe” and the man poised to kick Jude and Orlando off the top of the U.K.’s Most Snoggable lists—so is anyone going to be watching Kate anyway?—Maya Singer

Toronto film fans may have experienced deja vu yesterday when Thandie Newton, left, promoted Run, Fatboy, Run in a chic, mod shift—in this week’s chosen shade of fuchsia—that was the same chic, mod shift Kate Bosworth, right, wore the day before. Both looked great, although we liked the electric-blue heels Bosworth accessorized with at her The Girl in the Park premiere. Accessories aside, the dress was too standout to be mistaken for anything else. Let’s just hope these starlets don’t share a stylist.

The delegates for the Congress of the Chinese Communist Party aren’t the only out-of-towners in Beijing this week. Gathered for the first-ever fashion show on the Great Wall of China, to be staged by Fendi, are Thandie Newton, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Amanda Hearst, and Kate Bosworth and her beau, model James Rousseau. To welcome guests newly arrived from Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and New York (minus Tinsley Mortimer and Fabiola Beracasa, who missed yesterday morning’s flight from Newark), company president Gianluca Flore hosted a dinner at the city’s Whampoa Club. As she was reading the menu aloud, Bosworth noticed that monkey brain was one of the items on offer. While the actress seemed relieved to learn that the exotic-sounding dish is a type of mushroom, Rousseau, she said, “was ready to dig in!”
