Josie

Josie Natori is celebrating her company’s 30th anniversary in style. In April, the lingerie legend teamed up with the CFDA to commission kimonos from five up-and-coming designers, and last night, at Saks Fifth Avenue, she hosted a party to debut the one-of-a-kind designs by Erin Fetherston, Vena Cava, Jenni Kayne, Sari Gueron, and Brian Reyes. Fetherston, fresh off her Target launch the previous night, was almost giddy as she made the party rounds. “I just moved,” the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award nominee exclaimed. “Literally. It’s taken almost a year for us to leave Paris.” Comings and goings were a theme of the night: Gueron, for example, was off to the Bahamas the following day, and Reyes managed to stockpile a few free trips’ worth of frequent flier miles working on his kimono. Well, in the abstract, at least: According to Reyes, he drew on the two halves of Natori’s heritage for inspiration in creating his long, white robe. “The embellishment is very Japanese in its style,” Reyes explained, “but the embroidery itself is a traditional Filipino technique, pañuelo. Josie helped get me into it,” he continued. “She was amazing, really involved. I learned a ton.” All five kimonos will be auctioned off online, with proceeds going to the CFDA.
