Despite holding up the show for more than a half hour, due to their supposed impending arrival (much to the dismay of the fashion press, who have been less than pleased with the lack of air-conditioning in the Tuileries tent—this is Europe, remember!), Kanye West and his designer fiancée, Alexis Phifer, never turned up at Viktor & Rolf yesterday. Paris Vogue party snapper Stéphane Fugier happily filled their spots, however, just as the lights went down. Although the hip-hop star is a self-proclaimed fashion fan and a front-row fixture of late, many suspect a language barrier might have peeved the rapper. At Monday’s Christian Dior show, a slew of paparazzi descended upon the bespectacled couple (she in Chanel shades, he in professor specs), shouting, “Kenny! Kenny!” While West’s not above the occasional temper tantrum, at the time he just laughed it off and tried to explain that his name was Kanye, not Kenny. But we’re not so sure how funny he really thought it was.Derek Blasberg
