En Attendant Isabel, Hairy Like The Wolf, And More…
The English are coming, the English are coming! Oh—no, wait, …
London’s fashion set descended on the Chanel boutique en masse last night for the launch of the “Vogue Covers” book, hosted by British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman. Sipping Champagne among the racks were current cover girl Sophie Dahl, Roland Mouret, Nicky Haslam, Manolo Blahnik, Christopher Kane, and Mary Quant. “It’s wonderful,” said Quant as she leafed her way through the book. “I love the twenties and thirties covers—they’re all rather close to a Picasso, aren’t they?” Supermodel Claudia Schiffer was glued to Julien Macdonald’s side all evening, while a giggly Naomi Campbell stuck close to Yasmin LeBon. Campbell was one of the only people we saw leaving the party with a copy of the book, which she used to shield herself from the paparazzi onslaught. In more ways than one, Vogue gives good cover.
